Art 5 Figure Drawing

I think I have gotten much better in figure drawing than last year. I have a greater grasp of anatomy and value as showed in the picture above. Last year was my first year doing figure drawing, so my concept of proportions wasn't the best. I think since I've been working in dynamic poses a lot since past year, it has drastically improved my skills. My style of posing and figures is more comic-book like where body proportions tend to be exaggerated, which may have been helpful for me when trying to use searching lines.

My weaknesses though, might be in adding other objects when it comes to gestures, like the pigeon. I focused more on shading the body than the pigeon, so it kind of got lost when you see it. I also kind of struggled with keeping the proportions when I'm adding shadows. Subtractive drawing was probably my favorite part of the lecture though. I liked seeing what we've learned come all together as we finally do one last drawing. I also liked seeing the pigeon, that was fun. I'm sad to know that this will be my last figure drawing lecture, but this was a great experience. No regrets!
