Basquiat, or Jean-Michel Basquiat is a contemporary artist and was part of the neo-expressionism movement. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, 1960. He first gained attention in the late 1970s as part of the SAMO graffiti duo in Lower Manhattan, but later had a breakthrough in a solo show at Annina Nosei Gallery in 1982. I think I have gotten much better in figure drawing than last year. I have a greater grasp of anatomy and value as showed in the picture above. Last year was my first year doing figure drawing, so my concept of proportions wasn't the best. I think since I've been working in dynamic poses a lot since past year, it has drastically improved my skills. My style of posing and figures is more comic-book like where body proportions tend to be exaggerated, which may have been helpful
