When I was figuring out what to do for this project, to be honest, I wanted to go back to dynamic poses. My last work didn't really do that with the car, so it felt more stiff. Therefore, I decided to go with this pose, which was inspired by that Ace Attorney iconic pose by the character Phoenix Wright, but also a picture I just had of my friend that I ultimately picked as a reference.

The text was kinda hard to think of at first, because I didn't want to straight up take the Ace Attorney lines. But while I was making this, on my headphones, "Wait for It" from Hamilton was playing, and it felt like a catchphase that kinda fit. It connects to the whole comic book vibe too with all of the onomatopoeia and common phrases. In terms of colors, I wanted a red background with yellow text, but I did try to add more texture to the yellow text, adding different shades to make it look more interesting. Usually, i just use acrylic pens, but to up the saturation, I just used paint, which worked much better and took a shorter amount of time. The background seemed too bland, so I had repetition in the back, repeating the text in bold but shifting in colors as you move across the page.

I still have to figure out how to draw cartoon faces better-but having all of my characters wear sunglasses kind of makes it more recognizable as my work, so I might just repeat that in the future too. I was going for the superflat effect based on Takashi Murakami, but I still wanted to have some shading and color shifting in lines like Andy Warhol. This piece was kind of more anime inspired than my other ones with the fingerprint, but it got me thinking about doing animation or just anime inspired graffiti art. I still want to do the patterning work, and maybe continue collage, though that takes a really long time. Defintely need to learn perspective and proportions though!
