Since last year in digital art with Utterback, I have improved greatly in Illustrator, Photoshop, and learned a lot from InDesign too. In this piece, I mainly used Illustrator, but I also used Photoshop to crop the picture of Maggie Lena Walker. I incorporated a lot of hierarchy and typography, from the pillars in the art to the text under them. Overall I think I did pretty well with what I was given. The front pocket design could have been better, but I think the theme of the 4 C's and the pillars were still conveyed throughout. In my Art Skill Inventory works, words were all over the place. Colors were not carefully chosen and styles were basic. Back then, I didn't really incorporate stuff like hierarchy, etc, and didn't pay attention to detail like balance and weight. Now, I understand the importance of them and know how to put them in my work to make a seamless design.
