Compared to my first movie poster, I improved a lot. From the typography to the colors, my new poster is formatted and just looks so much better. In the old one, there's so hierarchy, no changes in colors, etc. With the old poster, it looks clearly photoshopped. I mean, there's no blending, it looks edited. It's so dark too, even though it's supposed to be a lighthearted movie; barely any saturation. The new one is dark, but its a horror movie so it makes sense, and even then its still brighter.
The new poster is edited as well, but its more clear and "dramatic" in a way. I also want to point out themes. The old movie poster just had "TRYHARD," but what does that mean? What was I trying to convey? I made the poster, but even I don't know what I was thinking.
The new poster is just so better in so many ways. It was more fun to make to. I tried to experiment a lot more with this one, with the mask layer and opacities. I watched so many tutorials on Youtube to get this right. I really put a lot more thought and care into this one. There were so many details involved and it took way too much time. But in the end, I think it paid off. It looks visually appealing and although it's kinda all over the place, it looks interesting. I would probably watch the movie if it was real.
The old one is just bland and dull, I can't feel anything for it. I didn't have fun making that one and it doesn't even look nice. It just sucks. Like, half of my arm isn't even in the poster, it's invisible. It looks like I blurred the background, slapped cartoon sunglasses on me, and called it a day. The posters don't look like they were made by the same person at all. So, I'm kind of proud of how far I came. Because wow, the first one was really bad. You would think, since I had digital art last year, my art would be good but nope. I guess that means there's always something to improve upon and ways to grow your potential. I learned a lot since the first time I've done a poster (thanks Coach Hall!), and really showed me how much I've grown both as an artist and a person.
